League of Illinois Bicyclists

The League of Illinois Bicyclists (LIB) is the statewide advocacy voice for all Illinois bicyclists, promoting bicycle access, education, and safety.

Our Objectives:

• Maintain and increase access to public facilities to enhance the use of bicycles for transportation and recreation
• Educate bicyclists and motorists about their mutual rights and responsibilites
• Educate cyclists on safe cycling practices

Some examples of how LIB works for better bicycling

LIB works with local, state, and federal officials on behalf of bicyclists. We:

• Advocate bike-friendly road designs, the development of bicycle plans, and the adoption of favorable bike policies
• Promote trail development and funding, including efforts for a favorable TEA-21 reauthorization
• Serve on transportation policy-making committees
• Educate local officials on bicycling issues through written materials and technical workshops
• Facilitate bicycle safety education
• Alert and assist bicyclists on local advocacy efforts
